Professor Kazem Fathie M.D., F.A.C.S., F.I.C.S., Ph.D.

Professor Fathie is Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Reno School of Medicine in Nevada. He is the Chairman of the Board of the American Academy of Neurological and Ortho- paedic Surgeons and President-Elect of the International Coilege of Surgeons. He completed his internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, surgical residency at the Chicago Lutheran Hospital, as well as Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He later underwent his training in neurosurgefy at the Medical College of Virginia. Following that, he went for further training in neurosurgery and treatment of aneurysms to Goth- enburg, Sweden. He then returned to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and was Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery. He has been widely published and has done extensive research on muscle relaxation related to back pain. He also received the Physician of the Year Award in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1994 and the Distinguished Physician of the Year Award in Nevada in 1995. He has been Editor-in-Chief of four journals in the United States and also internationally. Dr. Fathie has been involved in the treatment of low back pain since 1963
