About the Academy

The American Academy of Neurological and Orthopaedic
Surgeons is a scientific and educational association of
orthopedists and neurosurgeons that was founded in the year of 1974 to improve the quality of care and directions for patients in these two major fields of orthopaedics and neurosurgery by setting high standards for training, credentialing and surgical education and for the practice of orthopaedics and neurosurgery by teaching, through the Journal of the American Academy of Neurological and orthopaedic Surgery. Also, through annual meetings and other meetings during the year and many workshops. Members have the privilege of writing articles in the Journal, exchange of ideas among the surgeons and directions for open, unbiased, non- discriminating, uncensored ideas in the medical and surgical field.

The American Academy of Neurological and Orthopaedic Surgeons is a National/International non-profit organization which seeks to serve patients interests and maintains a high standard of training, and education from board certified members to better provide medical help/assurance for patients. The Academy is not responsible for the mistakes of its members. The Academy's standard of education and training for its board certification is as high as the requirements for other organizations. The members are also
obligated to recertify every five years and they should present continual medical education and continuous training for obtaining this recertification.
